Distance Education

Arcadia College Distance Education offers a future-focused learning pathway for students in Years 8 to 12 across Queensland who may be disengaged from mainstream schooling or need a more personalised approach. As a Special Assistance School, we combine innovative teaching methods with rich digital resources to support modern learners, delivering tailored feedback and personalised learning that helps accelerate progress and rebuild confidence.

Students are supported holistically through full-circle care, including access to psychologists, student engagement officers, and on-call IT support, with an Apple MacBook or iPad provided upon enrolment. Our vibrant online high school community fosters connection while enabling students to pursue meaningful pathways, including QCE and VET outcomes, all within an accessible program that is free aside from a small materials levy.

Who is Distance Education suited to?

How Learning Works
  • All classes are delivered live and in real time
  • Students learn alongside their teacher and teacher aide during each lesson
  • School hours: 8:45am - 2:00pm, with breaks
  • A structured timetable, similar to on-campus schooling
  • Interactive, teacher-led lessons with opportunities for questions and discussion
  • Clear expectations, routine, and daily accountability
  • Devices are provided
  • Years 8-10 are taught in 5-week blocks, helping students stay focused and reducing overwhelm
  • There is no uniform. We simply ask students to wear modest clothing, and there are no restrictions on hair or piercings
  • We follow Education Queensland holiday schedule

  • Ongoing pastoral care and regular check-ins
  • We support both the academic and personal growth of every student
Future Pathways
  • Students can achieve their QCE (Queensland Certificate of Education) at the end of Year 12
  • Arcadia College is not an ATAR school
  • Our pathways focus on preparing students for life after school.
  • Work individually with students to identify and support pathway opportunities beyond Year 12 (e.g. employment, traineeships, apprenticeships, TAFE, or further study)
Levies
  • We do not charge traditional tuition fees for students
  • There is a levy of $260 per term (payable in advance)
  • This covers everything students need to fully participate in school life, including learning resources, excursions, technology access, and much more!
